We are delighted that Georgette has recently passed her BDA Dental Radiography exam. This exam followed the radiography course which consisted of 25 modules and covered everything a dental nurse needs to know about dental radiography. Study modules were presented online by Mr Eric Whaites, Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Dental Radiology at Kings College London.
To gain the qualification, students of the course must take at least 40 radiographs under supervision in practice, then complete a 1 hour, online multiple-choice examination.
The BDA Qualification in Dental Radiography is a nationally-recognised qualification which qualifies Georgette to take radiographs unsupervised at FHDC.
Everyone at FHDC is very proud of Georgette’s hard work and we are pleased that she has gained this valued qualification.
Georgette said, “When we qualify as a dental nurse our learning doesn’t stop there. There are many different post qualifications we can take in order to further our education and enhance our knowledge and skill set.
Last year when I first joined FHDC I took part in an implant course for dental nurses, which means I can assist in the placement of implants and have more knowledge of the procedure and why different instruments are used.
In February of this year I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to start a radiography course which consisted of 25 modules over 8 weeks. The following 4 months was then spent building my practical portfolio and the subsequent 5 weeks was spent preparing for my final exam. I am delighted (& relieved!) that I have passed and I’m looking forward to taking a more leading role with radiography at FHDC”.
