10 September 2007: Watch a film at FHDC
To help distract people and make their treatment appointments pass more quickly, Far Headingley Dental Care in Leeds uses Rimax DVD goggles in its dental surgery. You can choose from a selection of movies and documentaries or if you would prefer, bring in one of your own. The goggles and headphones mean that you can immerse yourself into something pleasant whilst your dentists sorts out your dental treatment. A recent patient at the practice said, “That was great. Normally it seems to take ages in the dental chair but today I got completely lost in a documentary about the rain forest”. The goggles are particularly useful when you are having longer cosmetic treatments or teeth whitening. A Tempur mattress and headrest complete the experience by allowing you to get really comfortable. The problem is now getting people to leave the surgeries once their treatment has been completed!

3 April 2007: FHDC on BBC Television
Back in the 1940’s Cyril and Betty Ramsden were the original owners of the Leeds dental practice now known as Far Headingley Dental Care. They were also amateur film makers who for twenty years and captured middle class life in Yorkshire. Their story, “The Ramsden Collection”, was aired last night on BBC 2 and sheds light on life in post-war Britain. For nearly sixty years high quality dentistry has been taking place at 174 Otley Road. It is fascinating to see the person who first started the practice through his intimate collection of movies and documentaries. The film is narrated by Sir David Jason.
