Oraqix needle free anaesthetic is now available at FHDC. For more information please visit here.

Oraqix needle free anaesthesia is used by Becky our Dental Hygienist & Therapist for people who find periodontal treatment uncomfortable. It is applied in seconds and is very effective. If you are someone who has been avoiding coming to the dentist, this may be the solution that can help you feel less anxious when visiting our practice for perio treatment.

Patients can now book a hygienist appointment directly with Becky. In 2013 the GDC (General Dental Council) removed its barrier to Direct Access for some dental care professionals after considering the impact on patient safety. Before then, every member of the dental team had to work on the prescription of a dentist. This meant that patients had to be seen by a dentist before being treated by any other member of the dental team.

Dental hygienists and dental therapists can now carry out their full scope of practice without prescription and without the patient having to see a dentist first. The only exception to this is tooth whitening, which must still be carried out on prescription from a dentist
