Cosmetic Dentistry

The dental team will be happy to give information and advice on treatments that could improve your confidence, self esteem and even your career prospects.

Modern developments in techniques and dental materials provide many more options than previously available. Cosmetic dentistry is more reliable, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing than ever before. You may want to simply replace any unsightly sliver fillings or radically improve your smile. Far Headingley Dental Care can provide help and advice, whatever your cosmetic needs.

Veneers

A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain that is individually made to fit over the front of a tooth. These can be used to easily change the shape and colour of a tooth.

Crowns

Crowns or “Caps” completely cover a weak tooth above the gum and protect it. Crowns can be made of metal or porcelain or a combination of the two.

Bridges

A bridge is used where a tooth a missing. The teeth either side of the space are crowned with a false tooth within the space. Bridges are made within a dental laboratory and are then fitted by the dentist.

Case Study 1

Complexity: Moderate

This 29 year old client was unhappy with a missing front tooth and the gaps between his front teeth.  He had become increasingly self-conscious and reluctant to smile and wanted to restore the appearance of a natural, healthy smile. He was looking for a new dentist in Leeds and wanted one that could not only provide cosmetic dentistry, but also ongoing general care with the same dental team.

After discussing the options for improving his smile, moulds of the client’s teeth were taken and a wax template was used to demonstrate the final result on a model of the his teeth.  This template was temporarily transferred into his mouth to help him visualise what his new veneers and bridge would could look like. Prototype veneers were then used to demonstrate what the final result would be like. Once the patient was happy, ultra strong, life-like Procera porcelain veneers and a Procera porcelain bridge were created to match the other teeth. These were expertly fitted to achieve the final result.

Case Study 2

Complexity - Simple

This 27 year old man came to FHDC as a new client as he was unhappy with his chipped and worn front teeth, and an old mismatched crown that he had fitted when he was younger.  He decided to have cosmetic dental treatment to improve his teeth and create a natural, healthy looking smile.

After discussing the options, our client decided to have a course of in surgery whitening followed by two new crowns and a veneer to improve the upper front teeth.  After the whitening, the teeth were prepared and moulds were taken, from which like-like porcelain restorations were created.  The restorations were fitted and all of the treatment completed in just 3 sessions.

Case Study 3

Complexity: Simple

This 55 year old patient had old crowns and a bridge which had begun to deteriorate, as well as old fillings which had become stained and unsightly. She decided to take the opportunity to improve her appearance and after a cosmetic dental review with a FHDC dentist, she decided to have new crowns, a new bridge and a veneer to improve her smile.

The patient wanted to maintain a natural appearance and requested a similar shape to her current teeth. Using  digital photographs, imagery and models, the new porcelain restorations were made to look aesthetically pleasing, but also to match with her existing teeth as specified.  After only two sessions of treatment at FHDC in Leeds, this lady’s smile makeover was completed.

Case Study 4

Complexity: Moderate-complex

This 49 year old lady was unhappy with her upper partial denture, which she had been wearing for many years.  She had never got used to wearing the denture, which replaced most of her upper front teeth, and was unhappy with both the fitting of the denture and the appearance of her smile. She was keen to get rid of the denture and wanted a “Hollywood Smile” with perfect, very white teeth.

After discussing the options for improving her smile with the Leeds based FHDC dental team, she decided to undergo a course of whitening and then have a bridge and new crowns fitted to improve the strength and appearance of the heavily filled upper back teeth.

Moulds were taken and a wax template was used to visualise the final result on a model of her teeth. This template was temporarily transferred into the clients’s mouth to allow her to experience how her new smile could look. Prototype veneers were then used. Once she was completely happy with the look, the treatment was carried out and the patient went to meet our dental technicians who discussed the final colour and appearance of the teeth.  Finally the bridge and crowns were hand crafted and then fitted by FHDC’s expert dentist. She can now talk, eat and smile happily with her “Hollywood” smile.
