The British Dental Association is urging dentists to contact their MP in advance of a Westminster debate on childrens’s dentistry on 31 October.
Tooth decay is the number one reason for child hospital admissions, the BDA wants to know what Government is going to do about it.
The BDA has been working with MPs from across the political spectrum to secure this debate and have set out the case for change in the face of shocking health inequalities and the need for a strategy for real prevention, backed up with real investment.
Although this is a UK Government debate and will focus on policy that affects England, the BDA are encouraging it’s members from all four of the UK nations to get in touch with their Westminster MP, as we believe coordinated action needs to be taken across the UK, to ensure real prevention takes place.
At Far Headingley Dental Care we support the whole family and aim to provide a lifetime of dental care from the earliest age. This is why we offer Free Check Ups* for children. It is recommended that children see a dentist as soon as their first milk teeth appear and visit regularly so that they become familiar with the building and the dental team. Their dentist can help prevent decay and identify any oral health problems at an early stage. Just opening up the child’s mouth for the dentist to take a look is useful practise for when they could benefit from future preventative care.
Benefits of children’s dentistry from FHDC:
Children aged under 16 years receive free dental check-ups*
All children receive a 10% discount on any dental treatment required*
We understand children at FHDC.
We believe that ‘prevention is better than cure’.
