Dental Implants are a complex dental procedure but can deliver life changing results. FHDC’s implant dentist, Dr Laura Mikutyte presents a few of her recent cases…
“I gained my MSc Dental Implantology from Manchester University in 2011. Since then I have placed many implants and as FHDC’s dental implantologist I get to deliver some complex but very rewarding dentistry for my patients.
Some people think of Hollywood smiles when they think of of dental implants. In reality it is more challenging to provide a solution for a patient that doesn’t have or want symmetrical B1 white teeth (though I can provide that too!) Not everyone aspires to look like a 30 year film or Instagram star. Many people just want to have a natural set of teeth which fits with their appearance and age.
In the following case the patient had failing 2 teeth. The appearance of her teeth made her very self conscious.
We discussed options and she chose an implant option to restore the teeth on the upper right side (UR1, UR2) using a cantilever bridge together with the crown on UL1 .
We were both very pleased with the results that suited her smile.
This next patient had an upper left central incisor fail. Again we discussed options and we decided that functionality as well as aesthetic were important.
This time the tooth was restored with a dental implant and a retained dental crown.
The prosthesis created by our preferred dental laboratory was a natural match for the surrounding teeth. Again both the patient and I were very pleased with the results.
This final patient is an evidence that there is no age limit for dental implant treatment considering that the person is healthy and doesn’t have any contradictions.
The patient had a failure of premolar which fractured due to excessive restoration previously. We discussed different options to restore and fill the gap , but she really wanted to have a dental implant.
