The new client had a failing root canal treatment which had left one of their central incisors badly discoloured. The tooth had essentially died from within. This left the client extremely conscious about their appearance. They would hide their smile and often talk from behind their hand.
The patient joined FHDC as a new patient after researching teeth whitening dentists in Leeds. After an initial dental assessment,our dentist explained that external bleaching would not resolve the problem as the discolouration was coming from within the tooth.

Firstly the root filling was replaced as it had failed. Two rounds of Enlighten teeth whitening were used internally on the tooth to bring the tooth back to its natural colouration. Finally a white composite filling was used in the back of the tooth to complete the treatment.
The final result can be seen above. Dr Davies successfully turned a unattractive, darkened tooth back into a white natural looking tooth.
The client was delighted and left FHDC with a beaming smile. Our dentist commented, “This is a great example of how thinking laterally when creating a treatment plan can provide wonderful solutions. Many dentists would have applied a porcelain crown to the tooth to hide the discolouration. With a little creativity and access to modern dental material’s we’ve achieved a great result. I’m very happy that my patient has kept their tooth and it now matches it’s adjacent incisor. We also saved money by avoiding the need to get a dental laboratory to make a new crown, which for such a prominent tooth, could have been quite costly”.
