A message from FHDC’s dental therapist Becky Backhouse who has just returned from a trip to Nepal Volunteering on a Dental Clinic…

“I had an amazing time in Nepal ! Thanks again for letting me fund raise at Far Headingley Dental Care. All together I raised around £1500 to help fund this trip and almost £500 was from FHDC. I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who sponsored me to go to Nepal and provide dental care to poor children and orphans. All together almost 700 children were treated and educated! Many of these wonderful children were in pain and all so grateful to be seen.

Nepal has only a few hundred dentists to treat a population of 28 million! The dental health of these children affects their quality of life and they have no access to dental treatment. Giving preventative advice, Oral Hygiene Instruction, fluoride treatments, extracting teeth and saving teeth for just a few of these children has been a very rewarding, motivating and emotional experience”.
