Why us
There has been a dental practice at 174 Otley Road, Leeds since the late 1940’s. The current owner is Dr Precious who qualified from Leeds Dental Institute in 1998.

Your first appointment with a Leeds Dentist
Before your first appointment you will be asked to fill out a medical history form (click here to download a copy). This helps ensure that before your dentists examines your mouth, they are aware of any important medical factors that could affect treatment. Your dentist will discuss any important factors raised at your first visit. Your first appointment is a two way process where your dentist will discuss your concerns about your mouth. Intra oral cameras are used to allow you to see what the dentist sees. Your dentist will carry out an extensive examination with any appropriate x-rays, photographs and models. This ensures that the team has enough information to be able to produce a written treatment plan and cost estimate for any further treatment visits. If you are interested in cosmetic dentistry to improve the appearance of your teeth this can also be discussed and the dentist’s expert opinion of the options available will be given. If you have any concerns about the cost of treatment or the actual need for treatment you are entitled to seek a second opinion before accepting the dentist’s recommendations. It is Far Headingley Dental Cares philosophy to try and ensure that patients only receive treatment or services that they want and need.

Total Oral Care from a Dentist in Leeds
Our clinical team hopes to be able to develop a long lasting relationship with its patients. Often a dentist will look after different generations of families over the years. Most people see their dentist more than any other healthcare professional. This creates trusting relationships and helps to allow your dentist to adopt a preventative care approach through advice and monitoring. If problems are identified, solutions will be proposed and discussed. A treatment plan and costs will always be provided

Whiter teeth from a Leeds Dentist
Many people would like their teeth to be whiter. Far Headingley Dental Care is pleased to be able to offer two solutions to gaining a brighter and whiter smile. Your dentist will be able to provide advice and assess the suitability of these treatments for your teeth. In Surgery Whitening - The latest technique of in surgery whitening will give a whiter, brighter smile in around an hour. The technique is painless with no injections and no damage to the teeth or gums. The new and innovative in surgery whitening is used to activate a special whitening gel placed on the teeth. The results can be seen straight away so that you leave the surgery with a more confident and whiter smile. Smile Improvement from a Leeds Dentist
Most people who ask about smile improvement do so because they want to improve the appearance of their mouth. It is amazing how much confidence you can achieve by having a bright, white and straight smile. Your dentist will discuss with you your wants and needs and then present options to you. This may be a simple as a Plasma Whitening session or it could involve cosmetic dentistry to change the shape and appearance of your teeth.

Dental Sedation
Many people find that sedation is a pleasant and acceptable way of receiving dental treatment. It is also suitable for people who find themselves anxious at the thought of coming to see their dentist in Leeds. Sedation is particularly suitable for complex cosmetic dentistry where it helps people feel peaceful and relaxed during longer periods in the dental chair. The dental sedation agent is administered through an injection, usually into the back of the hand. The sedation agent begins to act in a few seconds and you will feel very peaceful and relaxed. A few minutes later you will be able to receive dental treatment. If you are considering FHDC as your cosmetic dentist in Leeds, please ask for further information about dental sedation.

Fresh Breath
It is always a sensitive issue but rest assured that bad breath or halitosis is a very common issue. The majority of bad breath comes from bacteria in the mouth that produce gases that have an unpleasant smell. These bacteria live in the areas that you miss when you clean your teeth. Bad breath can also be caused by diet (garlic, onions etc) and by smoking (drying of the mouth causes nicotine and tar to build up). The first step to take to reduce bad breath is to brush and floss correctly – at least twice a day. This will help remove the bacteria that create the odour. You can also use interdental brushes or tongue scrapers. If this first step does not solve the problem you may require professional cleaning at a dental hygiene appointment. Your dental hygiene appointment at Far Headingley Dental Care in Leeds has two key benefits. Firstly, care will be taken to thoroughly clean and polish your teeth. You will be amazed how much fresher and cleaner your teeth will feel. The second benefit is that you will be given advice on your cleaning technique and on products that may make it easier for you to be more effective in your own home. Many people like have a dental hygiene appointment before important meetings, interviews or even their weddings.

Replacing missing teeth
Bridges - A bridge is used where a tooth a missing. The teeth either side of the space are crowned with a false tooth within the space. Bridges are made within a dental laboratory and are then fitted by the dentist
Dentures - A denture is a plate (made of plastic or metals) with false teeth attached to it. These false teeth replace the teeth missing in your mouth. Dentures are held in place with retaining clips.

Dental Hygiene
Sometime clients might need additional help with to prevent gum disease and tooth decay this is when your dentist might prescribe prolonged gum treatment (PGT) over a series of visits. This combined with oral care advice can help stabilise gum disease.
The second benefit of a Hygiene appointment is to provide regular cleaning and polishing of your teeth and oral hygiene instruction between dental examinations. Not only does this remove plaque and calculus that is difficult to remove by brushing and flossing yourself, it can also help improve your confidence by having a cleaner, fresher mouth and reduce the need for expensive dental treatment. Once you have been examined by a Far Headingley Dental Care dentist to check your oral health, you can book a hygiene appointment for a clean and polish whenever you want a cleaner, fresher mouth. This is great if you have an important event such as a job interview or even first a date or wedding.

Straightening Crooked Teeth
Invisible Braces - Clearstep is an exciting new, invisible, easy to wear, comfortable, and above all affordable orthodontic system. The system is used in thousands of clinics in the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, South Africa, Israel, and across Europe. Its popularity is growing at an incredible rate. All you have to do is wear a series of clear wafer thin transparent mouth guard like positioners, which gently guide your teeth from their present to the desired position. Clearstep can treat young children and adults alike. The system has been designed to be flexible and can deal with the loss of baby teeth, the eruption of new teeth and many other variables. CLEARSTEP treats: Crowding - teeth are too close together Spacing - gaps between teeth Overbite - teeth overlap too much vertically Overjet - front teeth stick out Underbite - lower teeth stick out/lower jaw too big Crossbite - upper and lower teeth bite on the wrong side of each other Openbite - your teeth do not meet when you bite Misplaced midline - centre lines of upper and lower teeth don't align So why is orthodontics so important? Never underestimate the power of a nice smile. A nice smile is not only beautiful, it also promotes good health: Teeth that are straight and evenly spaced are easier to keep clean. So that means better oral health. Better oral health can reduce the incidence of heart disease, gastrointestinal disease, and other health conditions. You need your teeth to eat and chew and teeth are designed to meet in a certain way that makes chewing more efficient which helps in proper digestion. A well balanced and even bite also reduces the risks of excessive stress, headaches, and strain on your supporting bone and tissue. And the social benefits of a beautiful smile are also important. Lets face it we all love beautiful smiles. They do light up the face and give you more: Confidence- in job interviews, public speaking and personal relationships. Clearer speech - teeth play an important role in your ability to speak. The Clearstep system allows your dentist and you to keep a track of how your treatment is progressing. Your dentist can monitor your treatment progress and has the ability to change direction at any stage. This treatment offers flexibility and is unique to each case. Clearstep is wire free and does away with the need to bond metal onto the teeth. It is invisible, and removable, allowing you, the wearer, to eat that steak dinner, give that public speech, meet that client without embarrassment or discomfort. You simply remove, brush, floss, rinse and reinsert: Clearstep will do the rest.
